Privacy policy

Short version: no advertising cookies and no account to create. We measure which pages are read with Google Analytics only if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time.

Who is responsible

GOAT Matchday (goatmatchday.com) is responsible for the personal data processed on this site. For anything about your data, write to hello@goatmatchday.com. We answer within one month.

Technical connection data

IP address, browser, the page requested and the time.

  • Why: to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks and abuse.
  • Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR): our legitimate interest in running a secure site (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • How long: our hosting provider processes it for delivery and security; we keep no access logs of our own.

Your email and message, when you write to us

  • Why: to reply and to handle corrections, press and partnership requests.
  • Legal basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in answering (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • How long: up to 24 months after the last message, unless needed longer to defend a legal claim.

Visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics), without cookies

The number of visits per page, the referring site, country, and device and browser type, counted in aggregate. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not identify or follow you.

  • Why: to know how many people read each page, including readers who reject analytics cookies.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring the site’s audience (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • How long: kept by Cloudflare in aggregate for up to 6 months.

Pages viewed, how you reached the site, device and browser type, approximate location (country or city) and time on page. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.

  • Why: to see which pages and sports readers use, so we can improve them.
  • Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the cookie rules in your country). Nothing is collected before you click “Accept”.
  • How long: no longer than 14 months, then deleted by Google Analytics.
  • Change your mind: “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If you choose “Reject”, the analytics cookies are removed.

We do not ask for or want sensitive data (health, beliefs and so on). Please don’t include it in messages.

We do not sell or rent personal data, use advertising trackers, build advertising profiles or make automated decisions about you.

Cookies and browser storage

  • Analytics cookies, only after “Accept”: Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_KW6GM4PJ7D to count visits and tell new readers from returning ones. They last up to 2 years and are removed if you choose “Reject”.
  • No other cookies of our own.
  • Browser storage on your device. The site remembers your light/dark theme and your score guesses in your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device and we cannot see it. It exists only because you chose a theme or entered a guess, so it needs no consent. Your cookie choice is kept there too. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
  • Security cookie. Our hosting and security provider may set a strictly necessary cookie (__cf_bm) to tell people from bots. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and is not used to track you across sites.

“Accept” and “Reject” are equally easy, and nothing is set before you choose. If we ever add advertising that uses cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before it goes live.

Who helps us

  • Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, content delivery, security, cookieless visit counts and email routing for our address.
  • Google LLC: the mailbox where messages to our address arrive, and Google Analytics (only with your consent). We do not use Google Analytics for advertising.

They act as our processors (service providers) under their data processing terms. Both are based in the United States and certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, which is the legal basis for these transfers.

Your rights

EU, EEA and UK. You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, a copy in a portable format, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the ICO in the UK.

United States. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information.

Latin America. You have the right to access, correct, delete and object (“ARCO” rights) under your country’s law. See the Spanish version of this policy for the authority in each country.

To use any right, write to hello@goatmatchday.com. We may ask you to confirm that the email address is yours. It is free.

Children

This site is for adults. Content about betting is for people aged 18 or over, or the legal age in your country if higher. We do not knowingly process data of minors. If you think a minor has written to us, tell us and we will delete the message.

We link to leagues, broadcasters and other sources. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Changes

When our practices change, we update this page and the date below. Important changes are announced on the site before they take effect.
