About Wuhan Open and how we cover it

The Wuhan Open is a WTA 1000 on outdoor hard courts at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre, a one-week event with a 56-player singles draw in which the top eight seeds get a bye. It is the last WTA 1000 of the season. The 2026 edition runs from 12 to 18 October. In the last finished edition, in 2025, Coco Gauff beat Jessica Pegula 6-4, 7-5 in the final. The 2027 edition runs from 11 to 17 October.

Wuhan starts the day after the Beijing final, so the women who went deep in a 12-day WTA 1000 arrive with no rest, and the bye for the top eight is a real help. Central China can still be warm and humid in October, which makes long matches hard on tired legs. It is late in a long season, so some players are pushing for a place at the WTA Finals while others are running low, and late withdrawals can reshape the draw. We look closely at how many matches each player has played in the last two weeks.

We do not pick every match. We choose the Wuhan matches where we have a clear read on the result, write the analysis and publish one pick with the odds at the time of publication. Every pick goes into our public tracker and is settled on the official result. Analyses from every edition stay on this page.
